This is a specialty daikon called the "Gensuke", is highly regarded for its roundness, and sought after for its superior flavor. Its origins go back to Ishikawa prefecture.

Rather stubby and short yet rather thick ( about 8 cm long, 22-25cm in diameter) , it is juicy and smooth yet firm.

It can be eaten raw in salads by being sliced. Can also be added to any soups.

Grated and mixed with honey and hot water,  it can make a nice natural remedy for strep throat. 

When it's cooked, it won't melt/fall apart very easily so it can be used in a variety of dishes such as oden or soups. Also great when grated raw.
